The plot is simple.

A woman must face the reality of death, but her loved ones are in denial about it. She has to overcome this hurdle and get married despite being a widowed woman with little experience of marriage. This proves to be difficult as she struggles to make decisions amidst all these obstacles. At first, she tries hard to convince herself that they don't love her. However, they do when she finally reaches the point where she can't live without them anymore. But how will she take care of their needs?

Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikeri, Monica O My Darling is based on Chetan Bhagat's novel which was published in the year 2014. It stars Shahid Kapoor and Anshuman Joshi Shahri. In many instances, there are a couple of scenes between Monica and her husband Vikram. While both have grown up together, at various stages, their relationship seems distant. There are also some times she feels like her life isn't taking the right direction. To top it off, she finds herself spending more time with her son than she does raising him. Her desperation for attention shows as soon as Vikram enters her home after work, calling, texting or hanging out. His constant presence makes her feel lonely.

However, one night he disappears mysteriously. Now, Monica decides to take matters into her own hands, looking for signs. He later turns up at her doorstep. The next day, he calls for help, stating that he doesn't want to die alone. A series of events unfold, causing Monica to find herself becoming obsessed about finding his remains. Along with Vikram's friend Manish Verma, who has been helping the family deal with the trauma, Monica sets out on an adventure to discover what happened to her husband when Vikram goes missing. They will soon come across several people they call "Bhasar" and discover that it is not someone else but something much more sinister.

The movie was directed by Prashant Narayanan, and written by Pankaj R Patel and Ajay Devgn. The dialogue is incredibly engaging, but it comes down to the fact that the audience loses the connection between Monica and Vikram while trying to solve mysteries surrounding their deaths. Moreover, the film skips over certain crucial parts such as the backstory of Vikram's parents. Overall, I still found myself having a great time watching this movie. With its light-hearted tone, romantic atmosphere, and intriguing mystery, we don't really need any special skills to enjoy it. I would recommend this movie to everyone interested in pursuing a career in acting and storytelling.
